Tours – Carrollton Hall

Tours at Carrollton Hall focus on the history of the property, the house, and its many inhabitants, including enslaved individuals and the Carroll and McTavish families. While touring the first and second floors of this 1832 neoclassical American home, visitors should expect to explore how the design and details of Carrollton Hall reveal insights into the history and lives of all the people who lived and worked here. Tours range from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the needs and interests of the group. We recommend tour groups be smaller than 20 to allow for adequate spacing and time for questions. If your group is larger than 20 people, please let us know so we can arrange a special program or multiple tours.

Monthly Tours

Visitors to the friars’ Ellicott City campus are welcome to join one of our monthly tours at Carrollton Hall. Space is limited, so registration is highly encouraged. RSVP through the Shrine of St. Anthony website at the links below.

Accessibility

Visitors to Carrollton Hall should be aware that the only public entrance to the house is up a set of steep stone stairs. There is a lift to bypass the stairs, but the threshold includes a three-inch step into the house, which may pose a risk to those with mobility limitations.

The second floor is only accessible by stairs. Tours can be split or modified if individuals have difficulty with stairs or cannot travel to the second floor of the home.
