We are grateful to the many descendants of prior inhabitants of this historic site who have shared their stories with us as we continue to develop and share the full, comprehensive history of Carrollton Hall and the surrounding land. Our work would also not be possible without the generous support of our many donors and funders.

Elisabeth Mallin, Director, Carrollton Hall
Elisabeth Mallin oversees all site restoration, formation, curation, program development, and community engagement activities on our historic site. Her work includes managing the neoclassical home of Emily Caton McTavish (Carrollton Hall) and spearheading the community engagement vital to the development of this site as a place for education, reflection, and restoration.
Elisabeth joined the Carrollton Hall team in March 2021, energized by the opportunity to share the many voices that have been unheard from this historic site for many generations. As director, she is deeply committed to establishing a complete history of all who have inhabited Carrollton Hall and the land on which it sits, and to helping visitors understand how that history has affected our society and communities today.
Prior to working at Carrollton Hall, Elisabeth worked at several renowned historic sites in the Mid-Atlantic, including serving as a curator at both George Washington’s Mount Vernon in Virginia and the Maryland Historical Society. She also earned a competitive placement as a Marshall Steel Conservation Fellow in
Colonial Williamsburg in 2016. Elisabeth holds a bachelor’s in history from Yale University and a Master’s degree from the Winterthur Program in America Material Culture at the University of Delaware.

Joseph Hamilton, Director, Office of Mission Advancement
Joseph Hamilton has worked with the Franciscan Friars Conventual for more than 25 years, serving in various communications and development roles before being named Director of the Office of Mission Advancement of the Our Lady of the Angels Province in 2014. Joe also serves the friars as Director of the Companions of St. Anthony and the Franciscan Mission Association and Executive Editor of the St. Anthony Companion.
The Office of Mission Advancement took on the Carrollton Hall renovation in the 2010s, after the site had been used as office space and residence for the friars and other community groups for 80 years. Joe spearheaded the fundraising efforts for the renovation, leading to the full restoration of the historic site in 2021. Today, Joe's role continues to be in fundraising and consultation on the work at Carrollton Hall.
